Abstract

Community development is not limited to solving immediate problems; it also involves promoting long-term cultural and social change. Therefore, it must be constantly evaluated. The objective was to standardize the design, monitoring, and evaluation practices of community centers by constructing a management model that fosters synergies and complements the work being done. The methodology employed a descriptive, cross-sectional approach, based on an evaluation method for constructing indicators, adapting the open standards proposed by the National Council for the Evaluation of Public Policies for Social Development. The results of this study correspond to the work carried out with staff from the Northwest Regional University Center (CRUNO) of the Autonomous University of Chapingo, the University Center for Community Development (CUDDEC) of the Technological Institute of Sonora, the Community Center of the Northwest University La Salle (ULSA), and the Yaqui Valley Social Promotion Committee (PROVAY). Twenty indicators were proposed to evaluate the management of community centers. The study concludes that the use of evaluation tools strengthens, reinforces, and validates the work carried out by community centers for sustainable local development. The results of this study can be replicated in any national or international community development context.
