Abstract

The purpose of this article is to present an overview of the state of the Creative Economy (CE) in the municipality of Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico, based on an analysis of statistical information obtained from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), and to contribute to the development of public policies (PPs) that can support the Local Economic Development (LED) of the municipality. The results show that both the economic units and the jobs generated in the CE sector represent approximately 3% of the total economic units and jobs generated in the municipality. Therefore, the design and implementation of PPs that enable the residents of Morelia to start and improve CE businesses are considered viable.
