Ethical and Editorial Standards

  1. Authors undertake to submit to CIMEXUS Journal only those manuscripts that have been prepared with a high level of scientific rigor and to provide sufficient information in their manuscripts to enable readers to fully understand and appropriately use the research findings. Accuracy and objectivity are highly valued in the manuscript selection process.

  2. Reviewers may request, through the Editor, access to the data used by the authors in order to verify the results intended for publication.

  3. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts do not involve any form of plagiarism prior to submission for review.

  4. Manuscripts submitted to CIMEXUS Journal must not be under consideration simultaneously by any other journal or publication.

  5. Only individuals who have made a significant contribution to a manuscript may be listed as authors. Other collaborators who participated in the work but whose contributions are considered less substantial should be acknowledged in a section entitled Acknowledgements.

  6. Authors must ensure that all sources cited in the manuscript are complete and comply with the journal’s prescribed citation format.

  7. Authors agree to respond to the Editor’s requests within the agreed timeframes and according to the established procedures.

  8. Authors shall address reviewers’ comments and recommendations within the timeframe and manner requested, except in cases where a recommendation is explicitly justified as inapplicable through communication with the Editor.

  9. If authors identify any serious error or omission in their manuscript, they must immediately notify the Editor so that appropriate corrective action can be taken.

  10. In cases not specifically addressed herein, the journal adheres to the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Double-Blind Peer Review

All manuscripts submitted to CIMEXUS Journal for possible publication are subject to a double-blind peer-review process conducted by specialists in the relevant field of study, in addition to a preliminary evaluation carried out by the Journal's Editorial Committee.

Policy for the Resolution of Disputes

If significant discrepancies arise between reviewers’ recommendations regarding a manuscript, the Editor takes several measures to ensure a fair and objective resolution. Initially, the Editor carefully examines the comments and justifications provided by the reviewers. If the differences persist and no clear conclusion can be reached, the Editor may seek the opinion of an independent third reviewer, whose additional assessment will contribute to a more balanced decision.

In cases where the disagreements are particularly complex or require a broader perspective, the Editor may convene a panel of the Editorial Committee to discuss the matter and determine the most appropriate course of action. Throughout this process, confidentiality is strictly maintained, and the identities of both authors and reviewers remain protected, thereby preserving the integrity of the double-blind peer-review system.

Appointment, Functions, and Term of Office of the Editor-in-Chief and Members of the Editorial Committees

  • The Director of the Institute of Economic and Business Research (ININEE) shall have the authority to appoint the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal. The Editor-in-Chief shall serve a two-year term and may be reappointed upon completion of that term.

  • Members of the Journal’s Editorial Committees shall be appointed by the ININEE Publications Editorial Committee based on their academic experience and professional reputation. Committee members shall serve a two-year term and may be reappointed upon the expiration of their term.

 Plagiarism Detection Policy

The journal maintains a firm commitment to academic integrity and the originality of published works. To ensure this principle:

b) Plagiarism is defined as any unauthorized use or inadequate attribution of ideas, texts, data, or results belonging to other authors.

c) Cases of minor plagiarism (less than 15% similarity without proper citation) will be communicated to the author for correction before the editorial process continues.

d) Cases of major plagiarism (more than 15% similarity or substantial reproduction without attribution) will result in the immediate rejection of the manuscript and notification of the corresponding institutions.

e) If plagiarism is detected after publication, the journal will proceed in accordance with its retraction policy.

f) The journal reserves the right to inform the authors’ affiliated institutions of serious cases of academic misconduct.

 Conflict of Interest Policy

The journal requires full transparency regarding potential conflicts of interest that may affect the objectivity of the editorial process:

a) Authors: Authors must disclose any financial, professional, personal, or institutional conflict of interest that could influence the interpretation of their results. This statement will be published alongside the article.

b) Reviewers: Reviewers must inform the editor of any conflict of interest related to the assigned manuscript (employment relationship, recent collaboration, direct competition, etc.) and refrain from reviewing when such conflicts exist.

c) Editors: Editors shall not participate in the evaluation of manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest. Editorial decisions in such cases will be made by another member of the editorial board.

d) Funding: Authors must disclose all sources of funding for the study, including scholarships, grants, or institutional support.

e) Any undisclosed conflict of interest discovered after publication may result in the retraction of the article.

The journal follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for handling errors and retractions:

b) Addenda: Addenda will be issued when important information that was not available at the time of publication needs to be added, provided that it does not invalidate the results.

c) Retractions: An article will be retracted when:

c.1. Significant plagiarism is demonstrated.

c.2. Serious errors invalidate the conclusions.

c.3. Data fabrication or falsification is detected.

c.4. Duplicate publication is identified.

c.5. Fundamental ethical standards have been violated.

d) Retracted articles will remain visible and clearly marked as “RETRACTED”, accompanied by a detailed explanation of the reasons for retraction.

e) The retraction process will be transparent and will follow COPE protocols.

 Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

The journal establishes the following guidelines regarding the use of generative artificial intelligence tools:

a) Authors must explicitly disclose whether AI tools were used in the preparation of the manuscript, specifying the tool used, its purpose, and the extent of its use.

b) The use of AI to generate substantive content (results, analyses, or interpretations) without full human supervision and validation is not permitted.

c) AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.

d) The use of AI to conduct peer reviews is not permitted.

e) Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of all published content, regardless of the use of AI tools.

f) The journal reserves the right to use AI-content detection tools and to request additional verification when concerns arise.

These policies will be updated periodically as technology and international regulations evolve.

 Digital Preservation Policy

The journal guarantees the long-term preservation of its scholarly content:

a) All published articles are archived in certified digital repositories that comply with international preservation standards.

b) A DOI (Digital Object Identifier) is assigned to each article to ensure unique and permanent identification.

c) Files are maintained in open and non-proprietary formats (PDF) to ensure future accessibility.
