Los Migrantes Mexicanos: Acercamiento a un Análisis del Fenómeno Después de los Atentados Terroristas del 11 de Septiembre de 2001 en Estados Unidos

En el presente documento se analizan los rasgos que asumió el flujo migratorio
de mexicanos hacia los Estados Unidos después de los atentados terroristas
del 11 de septiembre de 2001. Con este ataque el tema migratorio en la agenda
binacional ha pasado a segundo plano, es más la unión americana decide
reforzar sus fronteras invirtiendo capital y recursos humanos para custodiarla.
De esta forma, el cruce de la frontera se hace más costoso y peligroso al grado
de cobrar gran cantidad de vidas humanas. Por otro lado, dichas medidas
antimigratorias han convertido al migrante en delincuente, situación que no
favorece en lo absoluto a la salud mental de nuestros connacionales. Dado lo
anterior es pertinente establecer mecanismos que aseguren el bienestar físico y
mental de los migrantes tanto en Estados Unidos como en México.
This paper discusses the features that took migration of Mexicans to the United
States after the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001. With this attack the
immigration issue in the bilateral agenda has been overshadowed, and the
border has been reinforcing with capital and human resources. Thus, crossing
the border becomes more costly and dangerous causing the lost of many human
lives. Moreover, such measure has changed the view of the migrant people
because now they are seen like delinquents, that situation affects the mental
health of our compatriots. Given the above is relevant to establish mechanisms
that ensure the physical and mental health of migrants in the U.S. and Mexico.
